Description Featuring Lucite Aquarium Panels From our Accessories collection, we are pleased to offer this Jaeger-LeCoultre Marina Atmos clock with lucite aquarium panels, dating to circa 1975. The Atmos clock is fitted with Jaeger-LeCoultre’s celebrated atmospheric pressure movement, which is powered by minute changes in air temperature, allowing the clock to run continuously without winding. The movement is housed within a gold plated case, with lucite panels to the front, sides, and top, each decorated with stylised underwater scenes incorporating fish, aquatic plants, and suspended air bubbles. The front panel is fitted with a hinged door and circular aperture, revealing a white dial with applied gold numerals and hands. The dial is signed Jaeger-LeCoultre and marked Marina, identifying the model. The marine theme is carried consistently around the case, giving the clock a distinctive sculptural presence while retaining full visibility of the dial and movement. The clock is accompanied by its original twin-door presentation and transport case, lined in blue cushioning, designed to protect the Atmos during storage or transit. A striking example of late twentieth century Jaeger-LeCoultre design, this Marina Atmos clock combines technical innovation with decorative lucite panels, making it both a functional timepiece and a highly distinctive interior object. For a complimenting piece see our Alfred Dunhill Lucite Aquarium Lighters here. Jaeger-LeCoultre is a Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer founded by Antoine LeCoultre, in 1833. They are still operating today, and are responsible for hundreds and hundreds of inventions and patents. They have over 1000 clock/watch movements to their name. For further information see our Makers and Retailers page on Jaeger-LeCoultre. Atmos Clock are also called torsion clocks or anniversary clocks although Atmos is the given name by Jaeger-LeCoultre. They are clocks which work under the perpetual motion theory meaning they hypothetically run forever. They work from a contraction and expansion of bellows in the rear casing which automatically winds the spring in the main movement allowing it to run continuously without any winding or given power.
