Description Fluted Boxwood Canted Corners From our Tea Caddy Collection, we are pleased to offer this superb George III Satinwood Tea Caddy. The Tea Caddy of rectangular shape with canted corners having inlaid boxwood flutes to the front faces. The lid and front panel feature Tulipwood crossbanding with Boxwood stringing and three oval cartouches featuring inlaid conch shells with accented designs surrounded by further ropework alternating stringing. To the front a diamond shape escutcheon is located to safely lock the Tea Caddy from prying hands. When opened the Tea Caddy reveals twin lidded Tea Caddy compartments with matching turned bone handles surrounded by further inlaid fans of high quality containing silver foil bases. The Tea Caddy dates to the Georgian Period during the reign of George III circa 1790. The Tea Caddy comes complete with working lock and tasselled key. Satinwood Satinwood is found in India and Sri Lanka. It has a rich golden colour and an almost reflective sheen. Satinwood is traditionally used for high quality furniture.
