The Stand beautifully created during the popular art nouveau era with its iconic floral inspired design featuring a leather cased pocket watch with a sterling silver mounted front with an engraved monogram to the top and hallmarks for Sterling Silver, London by H Greaves Ltd dated 1903. The front of the case features a circular window for reading the time via the internal pocket watch and a bracket to stand the case up on the rear. The case opens via a push button thumb tab revealing the purple/blue lining and removable white metal cased pocket watch. The stand is finished with the engraved makers name H Greaves Ltd, New St. Birmingham. H Greaves Ltd was a Birmingham silversmith and electroplating firm active in the early to mid twentieth century, producing a wide range of small silver and plated accessories. Working from the city’s Jewellery Quarter, the company became known for reliable quality in items such as napkin rings, condiments and personal giftware, contributing to the strong tradition of Birmingham metalwork during this period.
