Lemonade Pitcher Decanter by Asprey London

$46.36 $71.39
Description Asprey London crystal lemonade pitcher dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930. The lemonade pitcher is formed in heavy crystal glass of squat well balanced proportions and cut with multi faceted panels characteristic of Art Deco tableware design. The body is fitted with a substantial applied handle and shaped pouring spout allowing controlled serving of chilled drinks. The removable metal mounted lid is secured by tension and incorporates an integral strainer positioned directly above the spout, designed to retain ice or fruit when pouring. The underside of the lid is stamped Asprey London together with patent number 13020, confirming manufacture by the celebrated London retailer during the interwar period. Asprey supplied a wide range of luxury domestic and entertaining wares during the early twentieth century, combining practical function with refined design suited to formal dining and cocktail service. This example remains a well considered serving piece from the Art Deco period, suitable for lemonade, cocktails or iced beverages. View the full Barware Collection. Asprey London Asprey is a London luxury retailer founded in 1781, internationally recognised for jewellery, silver, dressing cases and fine personal accessories. Originally established by William Asprey in Mitcham, Surrey, the firm evolved from silk printing into a leading luxury house and relocated to New Bond Street by the mid nineteenth century. In 1859 Asprey acquired the Royal Warrant holding dressing case maker Edwards, expanding its production of fitted cases and luxury goods. The firm received its first Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1862 and went on to supply successive members of the British Royal Family. Throughout the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Asprey grew into an international retailer, producing commissioned silver, jewellery, leather goods and bespoke objects for clients worldwide. The company continues to operate today as a British luxury house, with workshops in London producing fine jewellery, silver and leather items. For further information see our Makers and Retailers page on Asprey of London. Art Deco The Art Deco period developed in the early twentieth century, reaching its height between the 1920s and 1930s. It was characterised by a strong emphasis on geometry, symmetry, and modern materials, reflecting advances in industry, design, and technology following the First World War. Art Deco drew influence from sources including classical antiquity, Cubism, Egyptian art, and the machine age, resulting in bold yet refined forms. In decorative arts and luxury objects, Art Deco makers favoured clean lines, stepped profiles, and stylised natural motifs, often combined with high quality materials such as silver, glass, exotic woods, lacquer, and stone. The style was widely adopted across Europe and the United States and became closely associated with modern living, travel, and social refinement during the interwar period.
