Description Cocktail or Lemonade Set painted with classic English hunting scenes An Art Deco hunting scene drink set dating to the first half of the twentieth century, comprising of a matching decanter pitcher and six tumblers decorated with traditional English fox hunting scenes. Each glass is acid etched with geometric detailing characteristic of the Art Deco period, centred by an eglomised band showing mounted riders, hounds and a fox moving through stylised countryside. The combination of sporting subject matter and structured design gives the set strong decorative appeal, particularly suited to country house interiors, shooting lodges or traditional bar settings. The accompanying decanter is hand blown and follows the same decorative scheme, finished with a substantial loop handle and shaped pouring spout, making it well suited for serving cocktails, lemonade or other cold drinks. Sets of this nature are increasingly difficult to source complete, particularly with all original glasses present. Likely produced in Bohemia, then part of Czechoslovakia, the set reflects the region’s reputation for high quality decorative glass during the 1930s. See more pieces from our Barware collection. It flourished in the United States and Europe during the 1920s to early 1930s. It was hugely prevalent through styling and design of the exterior and interior of anything from large structures to small objects and even influenced fashion and jewellery. Art Deco has influenced bridges, buildings, ships, ocean liners, trains, cars, trucks, buses, furniture, and everyday objects like radios and vacuum cleaners. It has become extremely popular today and is highly desirable to collectors and trendsetters in the fashion industry. Why Buy from Mark Goodger Antiques?
